Borneo Challenge

(sourced from www.princes-trust.org.uk)

From mountain to beach, rainforest to raging rivers, take on an extraordinary journey through the heart of this diverse tropical island, from the summit of Mount Kinabalu to the shores of the South China Sea.

Borneo is one of the most exciting, remote and untouched locations on earth. The national park surrounding Mount Kinabalu is Malaysia's first World Heritage Site, rich in biodiversity and rare species of tropical flora and fauna only found in Borneo. It is home to more than ten species of monkey including orangutans and gibbons, as well as orchids that only grow on Mount Kinabalu.

On the Borneo Summit to Sea Challenge we will: climb Mount Kinabalu, South East Asia's highest mountain peaking at 4,095m; bike and hike over mountain passes, through dense rainforest and remote villages; and raft raging rapids on jungle rivers.

Our challenge is to race through the heart of this extraordinary tropical island, from summit to sea.

The Borneo Challenge is taking place from the 17th to the 26th October 2008.
